Well rattle my tail feathers! Library Thing was a very easy exercise even for this estuary dweller. I have presented a visual feast for your edification and enlightenment, However, my reading is done at mid morning when the light is good and I can have one eye on my latest read and one on any lurking predators.
Library Thing could solve all those wee difficulties that present themselves when customers come in to the library asking for a book that they read three years ago.
With the covers available on Library Thing in all their glory "I think it had a red cover and was about this big" may become a thing of the past. Customers can look at the book cover and decide if it matches the book of their memory. Great to know that I can share tags (word references)created by other feathered birds with a shared interest.

Week 4 - Back to reality Flickr and Rollyo
Have frolicked around in the sunshine but reality bites and I realised that play time could only last soooooooooo..... long. Cast my beady eye over a range of image generators, settled on playing with a coat of arms but what can you use to describe genus Porphyrio. I mean... elegant, red beaked, blue shiny feathers, swamp dwellers... AND because I did not want every predator known to bird to seek out my humble dwelling I decided to download a photo taken on the mobile phone that would show you the rough area in which I am located. Now, all that remains is for you to visualise the sunsets that I can see from here!
You can see more by using this link to see my Flickr photos http://www.flickr.com/photos/28526106@N07/2662638957/in/photostream
Also had some fun creating my rollyo account to find out everything I could about my genus in the Rollyo Reference links. You can look for information about me on http://rollyo.com/index.html where there are a range of sources.
Oh such wanton vanity! But you have to admit I am a very handsome bird and if it wasn't for the flash of my white tail feathers when danger approaches I would easily melt in to my surroundings.

Week 3 - Lights out Folks! - Image generators (Unshelved)
I was quietly working away at my nest building around 11.00pm last night (you know what they say "The early bird catches the worm" *****missed that boat, didn't I!*****) when zap! kapow! wallop! all the lights in the neighbourhood went off. Hunkering down in the darkness until my little Pukeko eyes became adjusted to my surroundings I realised that all the work I had in progress on this blog would have to be re-generated! Yep, all gone in one electrical circuit breaking moment! At least I have no fears that Genesis are likely to turn my wee pond in to a mechanism by which to generate power! Mind you, I did have a beaky squizz at http://www.unshelved.com and found all these comic strips that described Libraries and Librarians - funny birds that lot! They roll their shoulders like we roll our tail feathers. The cartoon about desk top icons is rather like I felt when Mercury powered off.

Week 2 - A lesson in nest building - Bloglines and RSS feeds
Squawk! I wrestled with the intricacies of nest building for days, creating my Bloglines profile where you can see my Blog feed selections at http://www.bloglines.com/public/murmuringmaniac
and look at my selected feeds BUT I stumbled over trying to transfer feeds via feedburner to this blog. Not a happy Pukeko. I sought nest building advice from Operation Paragon http://operationparagon.blogspot.com/ who kindly shoved me in the direction of some very useful twig bindings found in the instructions on the blogger layout pages. Within moments I had gathered a selection of twigs and some robust reeds that were perfect for a Pukeko nest.
Blog feeds can make life very much simpler allowing viewers to see specific sources rather than roam the internet and spend hours achieveing very little. I can see this being a very valuable resource for professional feeds in the Library world

Shaking the tail feathers
Squawk! In my haste to crash through the undergrowth to the safety of my nest I have underestimated the best technique for finding and creating RSS feeds. I shall revisit my steps at a later date to determine how to master this morsel of information. If any of my plumed friends can help open my eyes on this step forward, tap me on the beak and share your wisdom with me.

Week 1 - Day One of my e-Enlightenment....Blog creation
The Pukekos are gathering in the garden.... wondering... thinking... and... chuckling? Cheeky Beggars! 'What is that interminable clicking of the keyboard?' I heard one of them squawk and 'why are the lights still on at this time of night?'... 'OMG! Cool! It's Web 2.0 learning!'....
It's amazing what you can achieve when you give it a go! I was curious to know how I would approach creating such a master piece... as it turns out... it was a merlot moment!
Stay tuned.... Further updates are on their way!
